Samantha J. Prince

Professor of Law
Penn State Dickinson Law

I have been teaching at Penn State Dickinson Law since 2003, initially serving as an adjunct faculty member while practicing law. I later entered the full-time professoriate as a contract faculty member in 2016, and became a tenured faculty member in 2026.

I have written on 401(k) plans and associated vesting schedule use, partial plan terminations, benefits transparency, benefits washing, taxation of abortion-related travel benefits, and worker classification.

I’ve been dubbed by the media as “an expert in company benefit schemes,” “an expert on retirement plans,” and “a leading advocate for stronger benefits disclosure laws.”

I guest lecture, consult, and serve as an expert witness on topics such as worker classification for gig workers, employee benefits, and 401(k) plans.
